                        FAQS

What is Mediation
It is an informal, confidential, and collaborative process that
bypasses the traditional  legal system. Parties work together to
resolve their differences by harnessing their  creativity in order
to try to arrive at “win-win” solutions. This method enables
them to control the process and the outcome. It requires mutual
motivation and the power to make decisions.

What does a mediator do?
When trying to resolve any dispute, it is extremely easy for
people to mistakenly focus on their passions frequently at the
expense of their interests. A mediator acts as a neutral party
whose aim is to help the disputants find a balance between the
two in order to solve their problem[s]. To that end, a mediator's
general goal is to help facilitate mutually acceptable solutions to
sometimes thorny problems.

What is Organizational Consulting
Part of an outgrowth of industrial psychology, organizational
consultants try to analyze and help companies improve on
employee behavior and attitudes in the service of enhanced
productivity and growth while keeping them consistent with the
current culture.

What is Training
Because today there is a direct link between “what you learn
and what you earn”, companies invest a lot in constantly
upgrading their employee’s skill sets as well as improving on
their effectiveness as a team. Classes that keep employers and
employees alike aware of the ever changing federal and state
regulations are also included under this educational umbrella.
Such training may happen onsite and/or online.

What is Groupthink
Janis (1972) defines it as the psychological drive towards
reaching agreement at all cost leaving no room for dissent or
alternative ideas thereby remaining a tight, decision-making
group. Some powerful CEOs and politicians fall into this trap and
wind up surrounding themselves with "yes" people [people who
always claim to agree with them regardless of what they may
privately know or believe] as a result.

Leadership
The compilation of abilities and qualities that enable an individual
to motivate and influence others to complete an individual or
group task.

Coaching
In the realm of business, this field has really taken off in the past
ten years. It refers to the process between coach and client to
reach their personal & professional goals through examining
their assumptions and values, setting realistic, achievable
targets, setting a course, & then finally taking the necessary
actions to achieve the client's stated goals.

Team-building
Defined as goal-oriented activities designed to foster team-
work, cooperation, effective communication and to boost team
morale, it takes on many different forms.

What can team-building do for my business
It can help achieve some of the following: Improve team
cohesiveness, communication skills, hone leadership skills, and
foster camaraderie & trust between management and
employees.

What is Onboarding
In the world of new employee orientation, the main-streaming
process is called "employee onboarding". However, among
executives it has a slightly more intimidating meaning. Because
of the pressure to compete in business today, new executives
no longer have a chance to ease into their new roles. They have
to "hit the ground running", quickly establishing goals and hitting
them in addition to building valuable alliances-- all within the first
6 months or risk losing their position.
